Can a material in motion hold a moment still?

Looking at the reflections of Venice on the evening water, I felt as if an imaginary city existed just below the surface. I wanted to capture the light at that border where reality and fantasy coexist.

This was the first piece in what became The Moment Series.

Each piece holds its own shape. Arranged together, they stretch like a horizon—expanding quietly, as if time itself were spreading across the room.

The Moment Series (2013-ongoing) is an exploration into the nature of time, expressed through the ever-changing existence of water.

For me, water and glass share the same essence: they are living materials. They shine most brilliantly not when forced into a predetermined shape, but when allowed to follow their natural flow, guided by gravity and heat. In the spontaneous forms of these “living materials,” I have always seen a reflection of “time” itself.

The vast expanse of a surface reflecting distant landscapes—FLOW[T], The fleeting instant of a droplet as it yields to gravity—MOMENTO, The pulse of a constant, living flow—CASCADE, And the quiet retention of light as it settles and stays—FLUID.

Through these different states of water, this series seeks to capture various fragments of time—the momentary, the continuous, and the enduring.

To depict time is to attempt to touch the invisible. Light, I believe, is the element that quietly brings to the surface the memories held within that time.

An instant, a sequence, a duration, a density. Where shifting light and material overlap, I hope to leave a quiet mark of the time that passes through us all.One material, one dialogue, one question—still open, which is why the work continues.
