POWER OF INTERCONNECTION TEDx / DIMAD / Salone del Mobile

Leaving Tokyo at 19, I arrived in New York with one suitcase and no real ability to communicate. What I found there changed the way I work. People asked who you were and what you stood for. If you didn’t have an answer, you disappeared.

That became the way I work. The talk “Power of Interconnection” was my attempt to share it—how navigating between two cultures, two languages, two ways of thinking, became not a limitation but a way of seeing.

“Design is about asking questions—discovering a project’s underlying issues, unearthing history, exploring passions, and techniques. But perhaps most importantly, design is about communication.”

“If you don’t have your own identity, you will be swept away.”

“One person may not be able to do much alone. But if we can connect with others, something larger begins.”
