MOMENTO WONDERGLASS

A bead of water hangs in the air just before it falls, gathering light within. Glass has the same moment, when the molten form glows as it turns solid.

MOMENTO holds that instant. The ellipse, folded over itself, comes from the way the glassmaker spins it. A gentle ripple of light, like a droplet hitting still water.

MOMENTO is the second state of water in the Moment Series, made with the same glass masters in Venice since 2013. FLOW[T] is a surface, MOMENTO a droplet, CASCADE a constant, living flow, FLUID light that settles and stays. One material, one question, still open. The installation was shown at the Istituto dei Ciechi—Milan’s historic institute for the blind, a nineteenth-century palazzo on Via Vivaio that opens its halls to FuoriSalone each April. WonderGlass had shown FOG there the year before; in 2015, MOMENTO filled the dark hall.
