Sunshowers – the occurrence of rain during sunshine – are a source of mystery and amazement all over the world. In Japan, they are considered a good omen and are associated with the legend of the fox wedding, which is said to take place during sunshowers. Foxes are believed to have magical powers, changing shape, becoming invisible and creating illusions.
For Design Miami/ 2019, Lexus responds to the fair’s theme of Elements: Water by commissioning designer Nao Tamura to create Sunshower, an immersive, multimedia installation that evokes the wondrousness of this natural, outdoor phenomenon. >>>

Guests are invited to experience Sunshower, relax in the space, use its charging stations, and sample Ooho, the innovative new biodegradable water capsules made of edible seaweed extract. Like rain drops, Ooho represents a gesture of responsibility towards our environment.
Featuring Lexus’s new LC 500 Convertible Concept, which combines indoor and outdoor in an unprecedented experience, Sunshower reinforces the brand’s commitment to omotenashi (hospitality), takumi (artisans) and the interior-exterior philosophy of engawa, for which “nothing is accidental”. Sunshower is curated by Aric Chen and Maria Cristina Didero.
