A bird lands nearby, stays a moment, and goes. For that moment, you stop whatever you were doing.
That was what I wanted to make. Not a lamp, but the pause.
First designed for Established & Sons as a corded lamp, TIKI returns as a portable light, free to move with you. Gently turning the bird’s body adjusts the brightness, a small sense of play.
First sketch, 2014. The bird was there before the lamp.
First presentation to Established & Sons, 2013—still called ALIGHT.
The first prototype, solid acrylic, at the manufacturer in Italy. No light yet—just the shape, to see if it read as a bird.
The moment it lit. Light through solid acrylic, held in the maker's hands. The LED still on a bare wire.

Little moments of making TIKI. Video by Established & Sons
During Milan Design Week 2025, TIKI appeared across the city—in cafés, bookstores, boutique hotels, and galleries. Small birds, perched where no one expected them.
Established & Sons' guide to Milan Design Week 2025—eleven places, a TIKI perched at each.
At dinner—perched on a brick, as if it had just landed./ Against the scribbled glass—a quiet bird in a loud corner.
In the magazine shop—two birds, browsing.
